I recently read an article in National Journal entitled House Republicans Really Think They Can Amend Obamacare.

My thinking is that House Republicans would be wise to bring to the floor a legislative package that looks at smaller changes to the health care law. Moving forward on a strategy to amend the Affordable Care Act rather than repeal and replace it is the right direction to take and amending is the right language to use. However, It was reported there is a question of whether congressional Republicans will broadly accept small changes (amendments) that might seem to suggest the law is here to stay.

I ask …why wouldn’t they?

With support for smaller changes to the law, congressional Republicans just may be able to have their cake… and eat it too. Republicans will have the opportunity to champion long- time Republican proposals of public exchanges and the individual mandate and at the same time set the stage for another Republican health care agenda item… to de-couple health insurance from employment making U.S. companies more competitive in the global market and allow for middle class wage growth. It is the perfect set up for where do we go from here?

I think I like it.

What do you think?
